If I have to cancel out of a Field Grade I certification session, what do I do?

There is a refund policy for cancellations. A full refund is available if you contact Mary Beare 11 or more business days before the first day of the session for which you are registered. If you notify Mary between 10 and 6 business days prior to the first day of the session, your refund will be $110. I can no longer make the session for which I registered. Can I transfer to another session?

Provided you are requesting the transfer 11 days or more before the first day of the session for which you originally registered, your registration may be transferred if there is space available in the session you want to transfer to and if you contact Mary Beare at mbeare@aci-carolinas.org to request the transfer. If space is not available in any of the remaining sessions, you will be given the opportunity to go on the Waiting List for the next group of sessions or be provided a refund.

I am already ACI certified in Field Grade I, but my certification will expire soon. How do I get re-certified?

Re-certifications require taking the full session and the same cost as the full session.

For re-certifications, is it necessary for me to attend the first day of the session, which is the review day?

No, the first day is optional.

I have completed the certification session. When will I receive my certificate or letter from ACI?

All exams are sent to ACI in Michigan for processing. The time frame varies depending on how quickly the examiner returns the exams to ACI and how quickly ACI corrects the exams. Turn-around time is generally approximately 2 weeks, but can vary. Contact ACI at www.concrete.org or at 248.848.3700 to find out the status of your certification.

I have my exam results and I failed either the written or performance exam or I failed both. When can I retake the exams?

If you have received your letter from ACI stating what exams you have failed, you have 1 year from the date of the original exams to retake the exams (additional payment required). You may register to retake an exam in one of the remaining sessions, provided there is space available in the remaining sessions. The ACI Carolinas Chapter website indicates under “Certification Programs” if there are spaces available at any of the remaining sessions. If there are no spaces available, you will have to register for the next series of sessions when scheduled (either Spring or Fall).

Certifications other than Field Grade 1

If I want to register for the written exam for the other certifications, how do I do this?

All registrations, in addition to Field Grade I, are listed on the website. On the home page, click on “Certifications” in the header. A list of exams offered by the Chapter will populate. Choose the certification of interest to view its availability. Alternately, at the bottom of the home page under Certifications, choose the certification of interest and a list of available sessions will populate.

Are study materials included in the price of this certification?

No. ACI Carolinas Chapter does not provide study materials for any other certifications. All study materials can be purchased directly from ACI through their website (www.concrete.org) or by calling the ACI bookstore at 248-848-3700.

I would like to register for two written exams for the same day. For example: I would like to take the Aggregate – Level 1 written exam and the Strength written exam on the same day. Is this possible?

It depends on if you are registering for a location that provides all written and Field Grade I performance exams at the same location. If all testing is at the same location, then you can take both exams the same day. If testing takes place in two separate locations, then both exams cannot be taken the same day.

Contact Mary Beare at mbeare@aci-carolinas.org  or by fax (704.246.4400) and explain which exams you would like to register for and at what location. Ms. Beare will let you know if it will be possible at that location.
