The Concrete Construction Special Inspector is an individual qualified to inspect and record the results of concrete construction inspection based on codes and job specifications. The program covers inspection during pre-placement, placement, and post-placement operations.
The Associate Concrete Construction Special Inspector is an individual who is knowledgeable about inspection procedures for concrete construction, including pre-placement, placement, and post-placement operations, but does not have the experience required to qualify as an ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector.

ACI Carolinas does not provide study materials for this exam. To view the certification testing requirements, visit the ACI website www.concrete.org. To help registrants prepare for the examination, Workbooks can be purchased from the ACI website Bookstore or by calling 248-848-3800. We recommend that technicians obtain the appropriate materials well in advance of the testing date.

NOTE: Fee includes both Written and Plan Reading Exams, but does not include Examiner’s fee.
Exam dates are scheduled upon registration. We will provide information about the Examiner and testing arrangements at your lab once payment is received. There will be an additional fee for the examiner to come to your lab.
REFUND POLICY: A refund of $150 ($75 for written or performance retesting) will be given if a cancellation is made 10 to 6 calendar days before the exam day. NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS if cancellation is made 5 or less calendar days before the exam day. No refund will be issued for the examination or the Examiner’s fee if the registrant cancels the originally scheduled examination date.
CANCELLATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN WRITING, WITH THE REASON FOR THE CANCELLATION, VIA EMAIL TO MBEARE@ACI-CAROLINAS.ORG.
ONLY Field Grade 1 Cancellations made 11 calendar days or more before the exam date will receive the cost of the exam minus a $200 fee for the cost of the book, access code, and processing fee.
FAILED EXAMS: Re-testing is available to those who have failed the Written or Performance exam and must be taken within a year of failing the exam to receive the discounted Retest. If the failed test is not taken within a year of failing, BOTH Written and Performance Exams must be taken.
COPYRIGHT ALERT: If any certification candidate with photocopied workbooks or reference package shows up at any session, copies will be confiscated and reported to the ACI Certification Department. All materials are copyrighted materials of ACI.
