Can I send in the application without payment and reserve a place in a Field Grade I session?
No. There are no reservations. Applications will not be accepted unless payment is included. Registrants are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis when the application and payment are received.

I am a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Am I eligible for the member rates for certifications provided by ACI Carolinas Chapter?

No. ACI International is a separate membership from ACI Carolinas Chapter. In order to qualify for the member rate, you must be a member of ACI Carolinas Chapter.

How do I know if my company is a corporate member of ACI Carolinas Chapter?

It is the responsibility of the person who signs up for the corporate membership to notify the people in his/her company that they are a corporate member.

I am registered for one of the sessions. Do I receive any study materials and information about the location of the session?

For Field Grade I certification, workbooks and location information will be sent approximately 3 to 4 weeks before each session.

If I have to cancel out of a Field Grade I certification session, what do I do?

There is a refund policy for cancellations. A full refund is available if you contact Mary Beare 11 or more business days before the first day of the session for which you are registered. If you notify Mary between 10 and 6 business days prior to the first day of the session, your refund will be $125. If you notify Mary of the cancellation 5 or less business days before the session, there is no refund. Mary Beare can be contacted at  mbeare@aci-carolinas.org

The person I registered is no longer able to attend, can I replace him/her?

Yes, as long as you notify Mary Beare prior to the session at mbeare@aci-carolinas.org . Provide the name of the person who will not be attending and the name of the person who is taking his/her place.

I can no longer make the session for which I registered. Can I transfer to another session?

Provided you are requesting the transfer 11 days or more before the first day of the session for which you originally registered, your registration may be transferred if there is space available in the session you want to transfer to, and if you contact Mary Beare at mbeare@aci-carolinas.org to request the transfer. If space is not available in any of the remaining sessions, you will be given the opportunity to go on the Waiting List for the next group of sessions or a refund will be provided.

I am already ACI certified in Field Grade I, but my certification will expire soon. How do I get re-certified?

Re-certifications require taking the full session and the same cost as the full session.

I have completed the certification session. When will I receive my certificate or letter from ACI?

All exams are sent to ACI International in Michigan for processing. The time frame varies depending on how quickly the examiner returns the exams to ACI and how quickly ACI corrects the exams. Turn-around time is generally approximately 2 weeks, but can vary. Contact ACI at www.concrete.org or at 248.848.3700 to find out the status of your certification.

I have my exam results and I failed either the written or performance exam or I failed both. When can I retake the exams?

If you have received your letter from ACI stating what exams you have failed, you have 1 year from the date of the original exams to retake the exams (additional payment required). You may register to retake an exam in one of the remaining sessions, provided there is space available in the remaining sessions. The ACI Carolinas Chapter website indicates under “Certification Programs” if there are spaces available at any of the remaining sessions. If there are no spaces available, you will have to register for the next series of sessions when scheduled (either Spring or Fall).

I am already ACI certified in Field Grade I, but my certification will expire soon. How do I get re-certified?

If my certification expires and I am unable to take the Field Grade I session until after the expiration date, will I be certified in the interim?

No. On the date your certification expires, you are no longer certified until you retake the exams and receive your new certificate from ACI International in Michigan.

What are the ACI Carolinas Chapter membership effective dates?
ACI Carolinas Chapter membership follows the calendar year. Membership begins on January 1 and ends on December 31 of each year.

How do I sign up for membership?

You may join ACI Carolinas Chapter using the website by selecting Membership/Become A Member, selecting the desired membership level, completing the required information and providing payment via credit card. Alternately, you may download the membership application and return the application with payment via mail.

Will I be able to register for membership and register for a certification session at the same time?

Yes. Once you have completed the registration for membership, you should be able to register for certification sessions and/or seminars.

If I want to register for certifications other than Field Grade I, how do I do this?

All certifications, other than Field Grade I, are offered on an individual basis.  After the registration/payment is received, the examiner will be contacted, and he will indicate a date he can come to your lab to administer the exams.  All registrations are listed on the website. On the home page, click on “Certifications” in the header. A list of exams offered by the Chapter will populate. Choose the certification of interest.  Alternately, at the bottom of the home page under Certifications, choose the certification of interest and proceed with registration.

If I want to take the written retest for a certification, how do I do this?

Written retests are offered on an individual basis.  Contact Mary Beare at www.aci-carolinas.org with the written retest you would like to register for.  A special section will be set up on the website for this registration/payment.  You will then be given instructions on how to pay for the exam.  Once payment is received, the examiner will be contacted to schedule a date for him to come to your lab to administer the written exam.

Are study materials included in the price of this certification?

No. ACI Carolinas Chapter does not provide study materials for any other certifications. All study materials can be purchased directly from ACI through their website (www.concrete.org) or by calling the ACI bookstore at 248-848-3700.
